Input the Moment Mxx
Input the Moment Myy
Input the Axial Load P
Input Material Yield Stress
Input the Length of the member in inches
Input the maximum unbraced length of the member in the X direction in inches
Input the maximum unbraced length of the member in the Y direction in inches

To check a specific section select from the drop down list below. If no section is selected, the lightest section will be selected





Select the appropriate effective column length

k = .65
k = .8
k = 1.2
k = 1.0
k = 2.1
k = 2.0

Select one of the following configurations for the beam column



X DIRECTION


Member is on a frame which is subject to sidesway in X direction
Member is on a frame which is not subject to sidesway in X direction with no Y Load
If beam column is on a frame not subject to sidesway in the X direction and there is no Y Load then input the following moments
Mx1 = Smaller of the members end Mx moments
Mx2 = Larger of the members end Mx moments
If beam column is on a frame not subject to sidesway in the X direction with Y Load applied then select one of the following
Members ends are restrained
Members ends are not restrained

Y DIRECTION


Member is on a frame which is subject to sidesway in Y direction
Member is on a frame which is not subject to sidesway in Y direction with no X Load
If beam column is on a frame not subject to sidesway in the Y direction and there is no X Load then input the following moments
My1 = Smaller of the members end My moments
My2 = Larger of the members end My moments
If beam column is on a frame not subject to sidesway in the Y direction with X Load applied then select one of the following
Members ends are restrained
Members ends are not restrained
